Ghosts…Do You Believe?

Second post time and this time I thought I’d talk about something that happened to me. You can add your thoughts at the end. In fact, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

So I’m thinking about ghosts.

At first, I didn’t believe in them. Sorry, I didn’t. Not totally sure I still do. But this is what happened to me.

When I was in college, I had finals and midterms like everyone else. I happened to be sitting in my dorm room, attempting–not very successfully–to study for an Art History midterm. I wasn’t keen on the teacher and thought, sadly, I didn’t need to study. I knew everything.

I didn’t.

Anyway, I’m sitting in my room alone as my boyfriend had just left not an hour prior. I’m staring at the TV not the book, and one of my pictures falls off the wall. What was odd about it is that the picture had that sticky tack stuff on it. By rights, it wasn’t going to go anywhere. And then just PLOP. I scratched my head and picked the photo up.

What was the photo of? My cousin and me. Not odd in and of itself, but the odd part was my great-grandfather had taken the picture. No, he didn’t visit me. But at the moment the picture fell off the wall, as far as I knew, he was simply in the hospital. He had pneumonia, but he was a scout and made it through everything.

I’m not exactly sure if it was the precise moment, but about the time the photo fell down, he passed away. I just thought it was odd the photo fell. Not ten minutes after, I got a call from my mom. My great grandfather, the man who chased the nurses around the hospital, passed away at the age of 92. I was gobsmacked.

Was he telling me in his own way? Part of me thinks so. Part of me isn’t sure. But of all of it, the strangest part was we had his calling hours on my birthday. Not a fun thing to do. So maybe it was his way of saying, hey kiddo, I’ve got to go and it’s gonna be a tough birthday, but I’ll make it up to you.

Maybe, maybe not. But that’s my ghost story. Not a real ghosty ghost story, but it’s a story and it’s mine. Grin.

So what about you? Encounters? Do you believe? Not? Let’s chatter about it.

And to tide you over, here’s a little bitty from my ghost story, Careless Whisper.

He’s her kinkiest desire, if she’s willing to open her heart and believe in him.

The dead don’t always rest in peace. Some stick around to make the lives of the living hell on Earth. Ryan Black knows the frustration of dealing with the dead. He’s a Ghost Explorer. He’s conquered houses filled with apparitions, abandoned school buildings that house angry vermin, and managed to woo the female population of Snake Falls, Ohio. But he’s about to face his toughest challenge, convincing sceptical Samara Jacobs she not only shares his gift, but holds his heart.

Women fall at Ryan Black’s feet and Samara’s determined not to be one of the many—that is until she’s forced to work with him. He’s certain ghosts exist and willing to prove it. The more she gets to know the man behind the television persona, she decides the handsome klutz who chases things that go bump in the night isn’t so silly after all. But is he worthy of her love?

This book contains anal sex and a little harmless domination.

About Wendi Zwaduk:
I always dreamed of writing the stories in my head. Tall, dark, and handsome heroes are my favorites, as long as he has an independent woman keeping him in line. I tend to write books with titles taken from songs because music is one of my many muses.
I earned a BA in education at Kent State university and as well as a Masters in Education from Nova Southeastern University. I’ve tried my hand at teaching, waitressing, and retail sales, but writing holds my heart.

I love NASCAR, romance, books in general, Ohio farmland, dirt racing, and my menagerie of animals. I have more stories in my head than my brain can handle percolating. I can’t wait to share them with you!

  1. I haven’t had any encounters. But my sisters SIL had a pretty scary experience. They bought a house and every night they heard someone stalking up the stairs and kick open a the master bedroom door and 3 loud pops. This went on every night at the same time. when she got to know her neighbors they explained what happened in the house. A police officer lived in that house, when he came home early one day he caught his wife cheating. He broke down the door and shot the 2 of them then himself. Once they knew what it was it didn’t bother them anymore.I would have hightailed it out of there. So yes I believe.

  2. I like the blurb. It has an air of tension and excitement. This is the kind of ghost story I want to hear!

  3. Wendi, I think Careless Whisper has one of my favorite cover I’ve seen on this bash. It seems many times it’s believe who don’t believe at first who encounter them. I have always believed but so far…no encounter.

  4. Thanks ladies! I’m glad you like the cover Na! I really think they did a great job. Thanks Rina. Glad you like the blurb. I worked hard on that. Elaing8, glad you stopped by and shared. 🙂 Great story, but I do not want to go to that house.
