Werewolves, dragons and werecats have gone missing. Working undercover, Jackson Graham of the Paranormal Crime Unit has infiltrated a group trafficking in shifters and he’s on the brink of taking down the criminal network. During a short respite in the case, he visits his pack and runs into Grace. He’s been secretly in love with Grace for years, but this she-wolf is destined to mate with his cousin, York.

But Grace has other plans. She’s refused to run beneath the Claiming Moon with York, and Jackson is the wolf she wants.

They share one night of passion, but must part ways. Jackson is in the middle of an undercover operation and Grace, an investigative reporter for an online paper, is intent on solving the mystery of the missing shifters.

When Jackson and Grace’s paths cross again, he’s the buyer and she’s the contraband.

Shifters are disappearing, and paranormal agent Jackson Graham is going undercover to find the reason why. But before starting the case, he makes a visit home, to see his family. He runs into Grace, the she-wolf he has been secretly in love with for years. He knows he can’t be with her, because she is destined to be mated to his cousin York. But Grace has her own plans for her future, and she isn’t about to run under the claiming moon with York, not when she only wants one man-Jackson-in her life.

After Jackson assumes his role as a wealthy man in search of a shifter to hunt, he is invited to an auction. Imagine his surprise when one of the kidnapped shifters he is offered is Grace, and he realizes things just got much more complicated. Now everything depends on making sure the woman he loves is safe, and the ring is stopped once and for all. Claiming Moon is a very enjoyable story, in a world where danger is just around the corner for the shifter population. Ms. McCall has built a world filled with well-defined and real characters, with hopes, dreams and fears, like everyone. It just happens to have more than just humans in it, and those who are more than human are being victimized because of that difference.

Jackson Graham is strong, smart and determined to solve the mystery behind the shifter disappearances. I like his sense of dedication and his family loyalty as well. He is willing to stay away from the woman he loves, because his cousin loves her. I loved watching as he had to rescue her from danger, not knowing how she really felt about him.

Grace is determined and smart, and ready to leave the safety of the pack to live her life her way. She doesn’t want to hurt anyone, but she simply can’t see herself spending the rest of her life with York, not when she loves Jackson. I love Grace for her strength and her sassy spirit, and her ability to not give in under pressure.

This is a fast paced story, with lots of action, both in and out of the bedroom. The secondary characters are supportive and there is a surprise or two to make it really interesting. I enjoyed this, and there is some scorching hot passion between Grace and Jackson that just burns up the pages. I recommend this one for those looking for a short one that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
