She wants to get all up in his business? She’ll have to get real personal.

Blackwater, Book 3

Brodix Jennings has a head for business, but his skills are put to the test when his brothers call on him to bring the family restaurant back into the black. With the grand reopening only days away, it’ll damn near take a miracle to keep the doors from closing for good.

Reporter Sarah Greer knows exactly what Brodix needs—free publicity on the front page of the town’s only newspaper. All she wants in exchange is the Jennings brothers’ rags-to-riches story. Except none of them are talking. And Brodix, who cuts a blazing path through her body with just a smile, is the most tight-lipped of the lot.

Brodix wouldn’t think twice about seducing prissy, buttoned-up Sarah into his bed, if her lousy profession didn’t leave him cold to the bone. A second look at the bar’s books, though, makes him think twice about saying no. But if he’s going to open the floodgates, it’ll be on his terms.

When Brodix asks her out, Sarah agrees, confident she can keep personal at arm’s length from professional. Until physical attraction melts their emotional barriers…and Sarah gets way more than she bargained for.

Breaking Brodix is another winner in the ongoing Blackwater series. These men work hard, but love even harder.

Five brothers come to the rescue of their adopted mom and try to save the family’s restaurant. Each have their own battles, each will find love, but only together can they find success.

This is the third Jennings man to find his way. Brodix is the money man of the brothers. He has a very successful career, but his heart is with his family and he works long and hard to stretch every dollar to make the remodel of the Blackwater Bar and Grill a success. Days from opening, they are tapped out and they still need to advertise. The only option open to them is a problematic reporter who wants to write their life stories. Past wounds may get opened, but to save the business Brodix is willing to take the risk.

Sarah needs to salvage her career. In her past, she trusted the wrong person and it put a big black mark on her resume. Now she is stuck writing filler stories and fluff pieces. She knows if she can tell the Jennings’ story it will help them with publicity and her career will get a needed boost. There is one problem, there is a skeleton in their past that is in her way. Another problem is from the moment she sets her eyes on the stubborn but handsome Brodix, she also wants his body, right along with his story.

They both need each other and they both know there is more going on between them. Will this interview mean the success of the Blackwater Bar and Grill? But more importantly, will this piece make or break Brodix and Sarah’s future?

Wow, these two are combustible! When a Jennings’ man falls, he falls fast and hard. I enjoyed this whirlwind romance, and my kindle couldn’t be happier. Brodix is sexy, smart and all man. Sarah is beautiful, savvy and independent. I enjoyed that they were both single-minded in their pursuit of each other, yet cautious. But once they touched, they knew exactly where they were going and they were going to do it together.

I have enjoyed this series from the very beginning. Ms. Rainey writes short stories extremely well. I am drawn in completely, yet satisfied at the end. That is probably one of the hardest things to accomplish when you have such a small window to do it in. There is no doubt in my mind that Ms. Rainey could have written longer pieces for all these men. She has some wonderful heroes between these pages. She does a fantastic job in her allotted time and I couldn’t be more pleased.

I also think when you read a collection of short stories that make up a series; the books really need to be read in order. While Breaking Brodix is definitely a standalone book, this series is best enjoyed in the order it has been written. Each of these strong wonderful men deserves their moment. After reading one of these stories, Ms. Rainey always has me rushing to my computer to find out when the next in the series will be released and then I’m depressed that I have to wait. Rest assured though, she is writing this series quickly and she doing it with style and quality.

Breaking Brodix is a fantastic addition to this sizzling series. If you like men with a strong sense of family and devotion and women who know what they want and how to get it, then you are going to enjoy Breaking Brodix and the Blackwater series.
