Faye Lynn is the starved and overworked heroine whose self esteem, confidence and hope for a happy future has been ground into the muck like the dirt roads she’s forced to travel. The secondary characters were well placed to set the scene and tone of environment. The dialogue was well developed and stoked the heat levels between Havyn and Faye Lynn. The conclusion of the mystery seemed a tad too easy but the tease for more is an effective hook. At this point I wonder — if life was this hard for Faye Lynn, what happened to the others? Who will be their champions? I connected enough with the heroine in this story to want to know.

Banished Hero has a lot going for it, enough to recommend it as a wonderful way to spend a summer day. Although I should warn you, sit next to the A/C for the fun parts.
