Patricia Weaver has always loved Jack Avery, but when she finds out he’s a soul-collecting demon, everything changes. Drawn to him despite the darkness that surrounds who and what he is, Patricia finds herself swept away by his sexual heat but in the end must decide if she can accept and love him…talons and all.

This story starts out with a bang: our heroine, Patrica is running and hiding in the storehouse. I just had to keep reading to find out what the heck was going on.

I like the historical take on this paranormal short; it was the first time I’d ever read a book like this. The characters were interesting, too. Jack is a demon who collects souls. He seemed lonely and looking for someone who would care for him, all of him — both the demon inside and human outside. I would’ve liked to have learned more about Jack. Like how he became a demon? So how old is he, and does he age? Perhaps I’m looking to much into this story, but these were some questions that floated around my brain as I read the story.

Patrica is a curious young woman, and her curiosity only increases as she learns more about Jack. I liked that despite her reservations she gave Jack a chance. Granted at first she is freaked out — but who wouldn’t be if the dude you were crushing on sprouted wings and talons.

I think author Sable Grey did a great job with this short romance. Her characters were entertaining and the story was enthralling, even though I had those nagging questions. I enjoyed how she combined these two genres and the sex was hot with a capital “H”.
