SPRING IS BUSTIN’ OUT ALL OVER: VANESSA ALEXANDER JOHNSON

Spring Is In The Air
When I first learned that spring was the central theme for this blog tour, my mind immediately reverted back to memories of my childhood. I grew up in the ‘country’, in a small rural town in Louisiana, where wood-framed houses lined one side of the two-lane highway and the other side was flanked by the levee that protects residents from the gushing waters of the Mighty Mississippi River. This was during the time (and I’m about to tell my age, although I really don’t mind because I believe it’s a blessing each morning the Lord allows me to wake up :)) before all the extra amenities that today’s kids take for granted.
I’m talking pre-electric/gas clothes dryers, pre all the modern amenities and technology of today… So imagine the horror and the ‘ah mans’ released when Mom announced it was time for Spring cleaning. Now picture this – our little house held myself, my parents and my 12 siblings. And in our house, spring cleaning meant taking the dark, heavy curtains down, washing them, hanging them on an outside clothes line, waiting for them to dry in the crisp spring air, taking them down and ironing them before packing and retiring them until next winter. In addition to doing this, winter clothing had to be removed from closets and drawers and packed and stored, too, to make room for spring clothing. As I mentioned, this was no easy feat with having to do this for myself and 12 other children. (Hmm, now that I think about it, I don’t remember any of my 8 brothers having to partake in any of these chores, only us 5 girls.) Then boxes had to be unpacked with the spring things.
Now, don’t you for one second think my momma allowed us to take out spring curtains and just hang them up. No Sir-ee! Those curtains had to be washed, lined dried and ironed before hanging them up. And while this was happening, windows had to be washed and cleaned, too. You don’t think my momma would allow us to hang fresh curtains on dirty windows. NOT! Needless to say, spring cleaning was not a one-day affair.
But looking back, and as tedious as these chores were, I would give anything to have at least one more moment with my mom and her assigning chores to me and my sisters. Do I carry on this tradition of spring cleaning, you ask? NOT! While I cherish the memories created back then, I am not one to sweat the small stuff, and this to me is small stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I do my share of cleaning and keeping my house organized, but I do it at my leisure. I’m retired from my 9 – 5, so when the urge strikes me to clean, I clean, be it spring, winter, summer or fall. What say you? Do you do spring cleaning?
And while we’re on the subject of spring cleaning, may I recommend spring cleaning of some of your old reading material on your eReaders and add some new reading material. And while I’m making suggestions :), may I suggest my ebook, Sacrifices In The name of Love. It is a contemporary, IR about two teens who will learn that their actions dictate painful consequences and sacrifices be made under the guise of love.

Thank You and A Poem In Honor of Valentine’s Day

I don’t know what time this party officially ends, but I’d like to thank the Administrators for putting this jamming party together and give a big THANK YOU to all of the participants for coming to such a great party. This is my first time participating in an event like this and have truly enjoyed myself. I would definitely LOVE to be a part of something of this nature again in the future. I’d also like to wish everyone HAPPY VALENTINE’S Day. I pray it is all you wished for and more and I’d like to leave you with this poem in honor of the occasion.

ARRESTED LOVE

I’m sorry to be the one to inform you

but a warrant has been issued for your arrest

and I’ll have to take you into custody

until you can see the judge.

What are the charges, you ask?

Battery on an unarmed woman

with your eyes you seduced me

with your touch you enslaved me

with your tongue you ignited my fire with the tip of your flame

your hot breath filled my lungs with much needed air

as our bodies mended into one

and your sweet nectar gushed freely

causing my woman-ness to releases its own juices

as your love stick handcuffed my soul

But you were a willing participant, you offer as your defense

Yes, willing to surrender to your every command

as I was under sexual duress, hypnotized by your love.

By the way, I’m your judge and jury

Guilty as charged, you admit freely,

And you have not been forced or coerced in any way to confess, you agree.

Well, for the crimes lodged against you

I sentence you to the maximum sentence allowed by love;

a lifetime of loving me wholly, completely, for eternity

and that’s without the possibility of parole

Your sentence begins immediately

and the punishment will be harsher
if you fail to comply, but you won’t

And I promise to be gentle for the duration of your sentence

But be forewarned, good behavior will get you two for one

That’s two shots at achieving new heights of pleasure

For each and every attempt.

Guest Blogger Vanessa A. Johnson, Author of Sacrifices In The Name of Love

Good morning all. I’m Vanessa A Johnson, author of ebook Sacrifices In The Name of Love. I’m from Louisiana, just west of The Big Easy. As we approach Valentine’s Day, with the theme of love in the air, I’d like to give you a small excerpt from my book, Sacrifices In The Name of Love, which is the moment my characters Trey Martin and Tessa Phillips share their first kiss.
“When the only thing separating us was our warm, quick, panting breaths of hot air, our gazes remained locked together. We stared deep into each other‟s eyes. My entire insides burned with desire. Trey‟s stare set my soul on fire, a fire that only he could squelch.
Bolts of electricity burst throughout my body from the nearness of him. I couldn‟t contain my desire any longer. I leaned my face toward his, shut my eyes and opened my hot, trembling lips to invite in Trey‟s equally hot quivering tongue. Our lips locked in a slow dance as we methodically sucked, twirled, and toyed and explored each other‟s mouths.
I felt like I was floating on a cloud and peacefully drifting toward the heavens.”

Now, as my book title suggests, what sacrifices have you made under the guise of love. Better yet, what is one thing you have done, be it childish, foolish, stupid, etc., under the guise of love. Now don’t be shy, spill it! If you haven’t made any sacrifices, then tell me about your first kiss…the real one, not the one on the side of the face…the one where you exchanged DNAs…
