Who knew love could be found at the dog park?

Cameron Johnson wants to fall in love. He’d also like the man he’s interested in to like dogs, too. Why? He considers his black Lab, Winston, to be family. If the dog and the guy don’t get along, the deal is off. Except there’s one man who’s caught Cameron’s attention…and he’s got a Collie.

Josh McDowell didn’t start visiting the dog park to find a date. He wanted to exercise his Collie, Dolly. His dog, though, has other ideas. Once she meets Winston, she’s smitten. His owner is rather easy on the eyes, too. Josh gathers his nerve and makes the first move. Cameron is his kind of man—sweet, quiet, smart and a dog person. Their connection is strong, but with Josh’s insecurities and Cameron’s fear of commitment, will it last?

You don’t expect to meet the best thing to happen to you at a dog park. That is what happens to Cameron and Josh, both men who are devoted to their dogs and have been eyeing each other for several months. Nothing may have happened if their dogs, Dolly the collie, and Winston, the black Lab, hadn’t fallen in love with each other and brought their owners closer. Josh gathers his courage and takes Cameron on a date. The sparks between them are hot and fast.

This was a sweet and well-done romance novel. I love the characters and how well developed they are, and their interactions with their dogs is such a major part of the book. If you don’t love their dog, you can’t be with them. It seems like they are made for each other. I enjoyed the intimacy between them, it’s well done hot and sweet at the same time.

There are issues in the relationship just as any other. I did not like the character of Lance, who was Cameron’s ex-boyfriend. The author does a good job of depicting a man who thinks everyone should love him. He knows how to play on Josh’s personal demons.

I like how the author makes each person have some sort of quirk, like Josh is not appreciated at work. He is a tech geek and he worries constantly that this will drive Cameron from him. The author shows how each one will stand up for the other. One of my favorite scenes is when they are at a ball that Josh’s company is hosting and Cameron stands up for him when he is getting flack from other employees. This does make their relationship stronger, it shows them that they can make it through anything, as long as they talk together.

If you love dogs as much as I do, enjoy seeing two men find a special romance, and the baddies getting what they deserve this is a book for you. It was sweet, hot, and perfectly balanced. A great read for a cold winter night.

But when Buttercup is abused by another party attendee, Jason follows his distraught guest and his eyes are fully opened.

When ‘the moment’ comes, will Jason grab it with both hands?

Quite the cute book.

It’s a little too cutesy for my preferences, but it’s still a good read.

I like that Jason knows Buttercup is for him, as soon as he sees her. I liked that Jason *KNOWS* Buttercup, but it takes him a little time to put the clues together. I liked that the whole book takes place over, maybe, a week, and the party and its aftermath is the majority of the book. That said, this story was told only from Jason’s point of view. I really REALLY wanted to hear from Kris! How he felt about Jason before the party, how he pulled it all off, and how he felt now he had his man. For me, it would’ve helped, but it might not bother other readers.

So, a cute, short read. 3 good solid stars.

When Captain Pendleton needs an emergency fiancée, who better to turn to than his male best friend? After all, for Amadeo Orsini, life’s one long, happy drag!

Captain Ambrose ‘Pen’ Pendleton might have distinguished himself on the battlefield at Waterloo but since he’s come home to civvy street, he’s struggled to make his mark.

Pen dreams of becoming a playwright but his ambitious father has other ideas, including a trophy wife and a new job in America. If he’s to stand a hope of staying in England and pursuing his dream, Pen needs to find a fiancée fast.

With the help of a talking theatrical parrot who never forgets his lines, Orsini throws on his best frock, slaps on the rouge and sets out to save Pen from the clutches of Miss Harriet Tarbottom and her scheming parents.

As friendship turns into love, will the captain be able to write a happy ending for himself and Orsini before the curtain falls?

A war hero who fought against Napoleon is still a child when faced with the prospect of disagreeing with his father’s plans for his life! Ambrose longs to be a playwright and his friend, Orsini, has shown a play of his to various people who all agree how good it is. Orsini’s alter-ego, Cosima, has to put on the show of her life to fool Ambrose’s father.

This is the third book in the Captivating Captains series and I do believe this one is now a joint-favourite with book four – The Captain and the Best Man. Set back in 1817 and a world of Theatricals and Balls, it is full of the rich and famous, intrigue, and a dash of mystery. I wouldn’t class this as erotic although there are some steamy moments.

The world-building is clear and concise, detailed enough to give you the important parts without bogging you down with anything unnecessary. The characters themselves, whether they are fair or foul, all play their parts to perfection.

This was a delightful read with the perfect ending, although if I’m honest, I will admit to wanting more – just so I could see if their life together was as idyllic as I have imagined it to be. Absolutely recommended by me.

For Ollie Tresham, the night isn’t looking any better. He might have won gold in the Olympic showjumping ring yet he’s still expected to meet the public at his dad’s charity fireworks extravaganza. But when a rogue rocket heads straight for the showjumper, it takes a quick-thinking fireman like Rob to save the day.

If you save someone from a firework gone astray, is that good enough to get you back into good books if you were mocking their father earlier in the evening? Rob doesn’t think so!

This is another short but sweet contemporary novella set in an English village. Now, this one is short, clocking in on Goodreads at 41 pages. However, for that, you get a full night of ‘action’ plus an epilogue, so I was happy. Rob and Ollie make a cute couple but, apart from the horrendous dad jokes, nothing really set them apart from any other couple.

Still, this is a quick read that manages to engage the reader. Recommended by me as a great coffee-break book.

Tarquin didn’t get on with his previous neighbour and is worried the new one will be just as bad as the old. Things are not as they seem though and Tarquin soon has his hands full – much to his delight.

The time period of this book is hard to narrow down. In some respects, it seems contemporary, but in others, it seems historical. Either way, this is very well written with a genteel tone and smooth pacing. There are a couple of ‘bounders’ in here that are obvious from the start but the fun is in the way the story progresses, not with figuring out who the big bad are.

This is both sweet and steamy with some erotic shenanigans going on behind closed doors. A lovely addition to the collection and definitely recommended by me.

Guy and Josh – or Gosh – enter a whirlwind romance that starts with a cinnamon bun at the airport but quickly transforms into real emotions. Josh is there to be best man to his best friend and Guy is at St. Seb’s for some well-deserved downtime in his home. Now, of course, the path of true love can’t run smoothly. Where’s the fun in that? However, in this book, it’s not THEIR path that is troubled. I won’t bother telling you about it, that’s what the blurb is for. Just trust me when I say the storm isn’t only on the outside!

The descriptions in this book are outstanding. St. Seb’s is now an island I want to visit after reading about the blue seas and white sands. The emotions are also really well-written, making it easy to understand just how something becomes the big deal as it is.

I found the pacing to be smooth and the characters genuinely likeable. I’d love to actually have some of the fiction become fact on my next flight but I really can’t see that happening somehow. All in all, this was a great read with love being the star of the show. Absolutely recommended by me.

This is a short and sweet novella, the steamiest bit being when they kiss. Billy and Charlie make quite the couple but, if I’m honest, I can’t decide if I like them or not. They seem to feature a bit too many of the delightful English idiosyncrasies which, when put together, gives the whole story a bumbling feel to it. I don’t mind a bit but this seemed to be a deluge.

Being as it is only a novella, you don’t get too much depth or history from the pair of them, apart from the occasional memory. Saying that, the pacing is good, with it moving along nicely.

This was a nice short story guaranteed to while away half an hour or so. Not one of my favourites from this pair of authors but still an enjoyable read.

Will these two men find heat between the sheets or will the guardianship situation be the biggest detriment to them finding happiness?

This was cute!

Okay, so maybe a little too cute for me, but I did enjoy it.

Steve and Farin have chemistry from the beginning. Neither is looking for a relationship and neither wants a one nighter, so friends it is, until then it really isn’t enough and they both want more. I think what I struggled with was the speed at which things moved once they decided to date. I mean one minute, they are barely kissing, and the next they are banging up against the car! The speed at which the L word was mentioned was a little fast for me, too. But it might not bother other readers.

I did enjoy the supporting cast, though! Steve’s little sister had him pegged early on as to how he felt for Farin. Farin’s brother, Colin, picked up on the electricity, to. I would like to go back and read about Colin and Jordan. They seem like a fun pair!

It’s a good read, but maybe a little too sweet and speedy for me. Other readers might love this fast-paced story. This is the first book by this author and I and liked it enough to try reading Ms. Slayer again.

Blake pushes Kade to make some changes to his life and to himself–but only because Kade wants to make those changes. Nothing is pushed onto him, bar the list.

The situation with Kade’s ex unravels itself beautifully. It’s not all laid out, and the pieces and clues come in dribs and drabs at first and then speed up, which is great. It’s hot and steamy in places, but I didn’t think it got especially emotional. I didn’t FEEL that emotion coming off the page. It’s well written, and well delivered. Unfortunately, now that Rich believes he might finally get a chance at an ever after, danger seems to stalk him wherever he turns.

Someone in Sin City not only doesn’t want Rich to find love—they want him dead.

A delicious addition to the series!  It’s not necessary to have read the other 5 books, but they are all great reads.

Rich is not happy with his home life so spends most of his time at the coffee shop or the shelter where he volunteers. Diego watches Rich in the coffee shop. Now, when I read the blurb I thought that kinda creepy, but it’s delivered in such a non-creepy way, I loved it! Rich KNOWS Diego is watching him, because he watches Diego too.

Both guys have a say, in the third person POV. Both Rich and Diego know they want something more than a quick fling, they want to BUILD something. It’s great reading, the way they both sort of dance around their feelings but know what they want!  Their chemistry is hot and heavy right from that first non-date, and it was great fun watching Diego introduce some new pleasures to Rich.

The danger to Rich is front and centre throughout the whole book, and it’s really well told, the way that sort of snowballs around him.

Most of the previous characters pop up in one way or another, or are talked about, and it was particularly wonderful to catch up with Lonnie and Parker (book 2, Copping and Attitude) I think they were my favourite couple!

It is a really great book, just a little on the sweet side for me, which was why I gave it four (good, solid) stars and not five. Still, I read it in one sitting on a quite afternoon at work, so recommend.
