Top Ten Tuesday: Books About Pie

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Thanksgiving isn’t a big holiday in my family, but we sure do love pie. My favorite flavors of it are lemon meringue, pumpkin, and cherry, but I don’t think I’ve ever met a pie I didn’t like.

Here are ten books about pie (among other topics, of course) that make me crave that dessert even more.

1. The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie (Flavia de Luce, #1) by Alan Bradley

2. How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World by Marjorie Priceman

3. Love, Lies and Lemon Pies by Katy Cannon

4. Pie: A Global History by Janet Clarkson

5. Pies and Prejudice (A Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery, #1) by Ellery Adams

6. Lemon Meringue Pie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #4) by Joanne Fluke

7. Flapper Pie and a Blue Prairie Sky: A Modern Baker’s Guide to Old-Fashioned Desserts by Karlynn Johnston

8. Pie Squared: Irresistibly Easy Sweet Savory Slab Pies by Cathy Barrow

9. Pie Is for Sharing by Stephanie Ledyard

10. How to Bake the Perfect Pecan Pie by Gina Henning

What types of pie or other desserts do you like? If you celebrate this holiday, do you stick with Thanksgiving classics like sweet potato pie or pumpkin pie, or do you branch out to other sweets?

Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at Long and Short Reviews!

  1. My husband is crazy about a Lemon Meringue pie, I need to find that Lemon Meringue book with murder for him!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Fun post – but I’m a traditionalist, camp pumpkin pie all the way!
Have a terrific Thanksgiving and thanks for the visit.

  3. “I’ve never met a pie I didn’t like” haha you’re speaking my language 😀

  4. Mm pie! I always love the covers on the Fluke mysteries, and Ellery adams is a favorite cozy author!

  5. Great list! I have a particular fondness for cozy mysteries set in bakeries, pie shops and the like 🙂

  6. This is such a cool and unique idea for this week’s freebie! I also love pie, and didn’t realize there were so many (non-cookbook) options for books involving pie, but so many of these sound really good.

  7. Pie! Yum, yum. I braved Costco last night to get our usual pumpkin and pecan. Thankfully it wasn’t all that busy. I also love a good cream pie—banana, lemon, chocolate, key lime, etc. You’re making me want to tear into the pies in my fridge that I’m TRYING to save for Thanksgiving, LOL.

    Happy TTT!

  8. More books than what I expected! Happy thanksgiving.

  9. An excellent list. We don’t have Thanksgiving here in the UK so I didn’t realise that Pie was a thing. Apple Pie with Custard or Ice Cream or just Cream is my favourite pie.

I have come to appreciate food in books – I think that it gives the story an extra dimension.

    Have a great week!

  10. Flavia de Luce! We love her! And Hannah Swensen, too. Also, some of these sound like cookbooks. New ways to cook pie? Yes, please.

    Happy TTT (a day late)!

  11. Who knew there were so many pie books? I love pie too! We’ve got a chocolate pie and a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.

  12. I think Apple is my favourite pie, but I also really love Cherry. I’m not a fan of pumpkins, whenever I’ve seen episodes of American TV series where they’re celebrating Thanksgiving (I’m British, so this is where pretty much all my knowledge of Thanksgiving comes from!), I always wonder why of all the pie flavours, pumpkin? There are so many better pie choices!

  13. Fun post! I am so excited for Dutch Apple Pie tomorrow!!! haha. This made me really crave it. 🙂

  14. Now I want pie

  15. Wow, I had no idea there was such a book titled history of pie! I used to love strawberry and rhubarb pie my mom would buy from Albertson’s. Hope you had a wonderful week!

    • I didn’t know that either until recently. Strawberry rhubarb pie is so good.

I hope you’re having a good week, too.

  16. I’m loving your post. A delicious piece of pumpkin pie is my favorite.

  17. A great list of pie books! In my house, dessert tends to be either cake or apple crisp for Thanksgiving. Pies make an appearance, but not that often.

Thank you for stopping by my blog last week.

  18. This is an IDEAL and REALLY fun topic for this week! Love it. 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting my website on this week. Appreciate this.
