Enjoy an excerpt:

Nightmares crowded my sleep and I woke in a sweat, some twelve hours later, gasping for air and thought that Julie’s death was just a nightmare, a figment of my imagination. But I knew it wasn’t.

I needed air and crawled to the door leading out onto the patio that overlooked the beach and the Sea of Cortez. It felt similar to Gozo, but it was subtly different; the smell of dry sage tinged the slight breeze and somewhere close by, lingering smoke from a mesquite barbecue blew lazily across the beach. Bile rose in my mouth and I dry retched onto the sand as the image of Julie, bloodied and broken in the helicopter, blasted into my mind.

The moment passed and I sat at the water’s edge as small wavelets ran up the beach and sank into the sand.

Julie’s death killed something in me. Something I thought I had recovered from after my last tour in Afghanistan. She gave my life a soul that had been destroyed, and now with her death, my soul was as dark as it had ever been.

De Costas would pay for her death.

All that was left in me was the instinct for survival and revenge; the only emotion, pure hatred for the man that had caused all this. It was this that had kept me alive when I should have been dead. It was this that created the desire to fight back to full health.

An hour later I hobbled slowly back to the bedroom, lay down and fell into a dreamless sleep.

Thank you I enjoyed the excerpt

  2. Thanks for hosting!

  3. Really appreciate you hosting my book, thanks. As I am based in Australia unfortunately I am asleep while most of you in the USA are going through your day, but I will definitely check in early evening and look forward to answering any questions/comments readers may have. It’s an exciting challenge, writing a series that keeps readers’ engaged, so would love to know – what do you think makes a great thriller or a great series of any genre, what keeps you waiting for the next book, and the next and the next?

  4. I like the excerpt. Thankyou!

    • Glad you liked it and you can always read a larger sample on Amazon with the “look Inside” feature which gives you a much broader idea of how the book will go – though I do try to make sure that everything keeps you guessing to the very last page – that’s what a thriller is all about, right? I know that’s what keeps me burning the midnight oil when I read some of my favorite authors.

  5. Interesting premise

  6. The book sounds interesting and I liked the excerpt. Thanks for sharing!

    • You’re very welcome Serena, thanks for taking the time to read the excerpt and find out more about the book. I must say I am really enjoying writing this thriller series, so I hope my readers enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy creating it 🙂

  7. Great except.

  8. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BOOK AND TOUR! THANKS FOR THE GIVEAWAY!

  9. Mary Preston says:

    An intriguing title.

    • I’m glad you think the title is intriguing. These days most authors are told to choose a title that has specific “keywords” in it to maximise being found on the web – for thrillers things like “kill” “code” “murder” “lethal” “terror” and so forth – but I think it can all get a bit much. They all start looking the same! Maybe I am the worse off for it, but I like to choose titles that simply come to me, that I think are interesting, quirky and that I hope will catch a reader’s curiosity to read further. And that are key to plot, of course. I guess only time will tell if my instinct is right or not 🙂

  10. Thanks for the information on an author I have yet to read. The book sounds really good

  11. Amanda Sakovitz says:

    I loved the author bio

    • Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to write a note. I’ve had what could be called a very “colourful” life, but having had a life threatening injury/disability in the Army in my twenties I believe each day is a bonus, and so why waste it? Might as well make the most of the wonderful opportunities our world has to offer us.
