About the Book:

Once-famous singer Anjuli Carver has returned to tiny Heaverlock Village alone and nearly broke. She’s poured every last penny into a rambling Victorian manor, hoping to start over. Trouble is, her money pit is falling to pieces and the only restoration architect for miles is Rob Douglas…her ex-fiancé.

For eight years, Rob has regretted not telling Anjuli why he never answered her letters. Being left at the altar broke his heart, but being used for sex one night in London after the fact nearly drove him to the edge of sanity, and he’ll be damned if he allows Anjuli to wreak havoc on his life again. He’ll restore her manor, all right, and give her taste of her own medicine while he’s at it.

But how long can revenge last when memories of their shared past keep rushing to the surface?

Soon, Rob wants answers. Why did Anjuli leave the international spotlight to become a recluse in the Scottish Borderlands? And why does she refuse to sing? Anjuli wants nothing more than to be left alone with her grief, even as she struggles to keep her sexy fantasies about Rob in check. With gossipy villagers, interfering friends and more secrets between them than notes on a scale, Anjuli and Rob will need to find forgiveness in order to work together, then decide if they’re willing to risk it all on an encore performance.

Elise reads, writes and revels in romance, and is never happier than when caught up in a heart-thumping, sweat-your-socks-off tale—hers or somebody else’s. She loves creating stories about flawed characters, people for whom love isn’t simply a question of boy-meets-girl, but a gut wrenching journey of transformation.

  1. Thank you for hosting

  2. Hi, thanks for announcing and showing off my cover! I’m on holiday on a tiny island in Greece at the moment and the wifi is temperamental, but I’ll do my utmost to answer any questions. My book is about second chances, and I’d love to know if people believe in them or not, and why! I do, else I would not have been able to write Anjuli and Rob’s story. Thanks again for hosting me, Elise.

  3. Elise-Maria Barton says:

I believe in second chances, I just don’t believe I n them working out for the best. Thanks for sharing. I’m jealous of uh our vacay but I wish you loads of enjoyment!

    • Yeah, I think giving somebody a second chance is risky, because you have to learn to trust them all over again. Sometimes, it’s right to trust, and other times, that trust is misplaces. I’ve seen it happen and it ain’t pretty! Rob and Anjuli have a lot to overcome, their journey a bumpy ride.
Greece has been great, but so incredibly hot! We’re back in the UK in a few days so I’m trying to soak up all the sunny goodness for the months of cold and wet to come.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  4. Enjoyed reading the comments. I am always looking for new authors to read. I often give some authors a second chance on their writing.

    • So do I! Not every book or writing style will appeal to everybody, that’s a given. My first book, HATE TO LOVE YOU, is utterly unlike PITCH IMPERFECT in tone and voice. I enjoyed writing both books, but in very different ways. If you decide to read this book, I hope you like it.

  5. Thanks for the giveaway! The book sounds good and the blurb left me thinking why she left him at the altar (?!)… ouch. Not sure you can forgive something like that.

    • I think it takes a special person, and a special set of circumstances, to forgive such an awful thing. Action and reaction, guilt and atonement. I believe people do things for a reason, not always a good or even a sane one, but that empathy and compassion are boundless where love is concerned.
Glad you like the giveaway. As an avid reader myself, I wanted to give readers something they could use however they wanted. The price of e-books is very sweet right now and I like my candy.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Virginia H says:

Love the book blurb, sounds like a fantastic read and i would love to read it. You would be a new author for me.

    • YAY! I hope you give PITCH IMPERFECT a chance. I love discovering new authors and hope I’m one for you. What I did with my first novel was to put up the first two chapters as an excerpt on my website so people could download and read a good chunk, and once all is tip-top I’m going to do the same with PITCH IMPERFECT. (It’s VERY different in tone and style to my first novel, a new adult called HATE TO LOVE YOU, so it may appeal to a different readership–or both!)

  7. Nice cover

    • Thanks! My heroine moves to a dilapidated manor in front of Heaverlock Castle and the Carina Press team put a lot of effort into finding a castle that fit the description in my book! But between you and me, I don’t see far beyond Rob when I look at the cover. He’s a contemporary, kilt-wearing Scot with oodles of charisma…yum.

  8. SHELLEY S says:

THANKS FOR THE COVER REVEAL AND THE GIVEAWAY!

    • *smiley face* I’m a new author (PITCH IMPERFECT is my second novel) and doing things like cover reveals feels terribly ‘look at me and what I’ve written’. Giving away a voucher to read, however, is a total buzz! Love, love, love books and feel happy that somebody is going to enjoy the prize.

  9. THANKS LONG AND SHORT REVIEWS or the cover reveal! And thanks to everybody who took the time to comment!

  10. There so many questions that the blurb makes the reader wonder about. The heroine has a lot of secrets/reason and baggage to uncover.
