Love Summertime

Of course, here in Texas it gets hotter than Hades and we consume gallons of sweet tea and ice water. But everything is so lush and rich. My crepe myrtles are bursting with color, the herd of white tail deer that lives where we are has produced some of the cutest new fawns and I can sit on my back porch until well after eight o’clock.

desiree cowboy texas summer (2)Of course, there’s another bonus to summer in Texas, especially when you live in the Hill Country where I do, surrounded by ranches. Cowboys work just as hard in the hot months, but under the broiling sun, if you’re lucky, some of them will rip off their shirts and you get to drool over those hard, sweaty muscles! I mean, is there a better place to ogle tough alpha males than on a ranch?

I also love summer because it reminds me of some of he most romantic moments in my life—walking along the beach with my late husband, letting the waters of the Gulf of Mexico wash over our bare feet. Or sitting on a dune beneath clear moonlight, drinking more of that sweet tea and counting the stars.

Summer is a time for barbecues, and of course Texas is a leader there, too. Smoked brisket, juicy ribs, corn roasted on the grill…mmm, mmm, mmm. All washed down with ice cold beer.

In my neck of the woods it’s also a good time to hang out late in the day at Luckenbach, right down the road from me, where Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson sang in those long ago years. Now on any afternoon you can sip a Lone Star beer and listen to that day’s performers in the Pickers Circle. Kick back and let the music just wash over you.

Summer is a time for love, for happy memories, for renewal of life and love. Is it any wonder that I love it so much?

perf5.000x8.000.inddFletcher “Mustang” Call is a dedicated SEAL and a committed Dom. The one thing he isn’t is relationship material. A tragedy in his past killed his desire for more than a good time on leave and a little D/s play. Until April Coe walked into his life, a woman unlike any he’s known. Problem is, she’s as vanilla as they come.

April was warned about Mustang, a man as wild and free as his call sign, so she doesn’t expect him to stick around for long. That’s okay, she’ll enjoy the great sex while she can. At least, she thought it was great. When she senses her sexy bronco is holding back, she has to decide whether to ride the mustang a little harder or set him free.

Great post. Living in Central Florida, it gets very hot in summer and I spend most of the time in the a/c reading a good book. When I want some outdoor time, I jump in the pool. When I do go outside to do a bit of yard work, I have to do it in small increments because it’s just so unbearably hot and sticky.

  12. I lived in Tampa for 20 years so I now what you mean. Very hot here in Central Texas, too, but at least it’s a drier heat.

  13. Mr. Random.Org has selected the winner of the GC and it is….drum roll…..Linda Brashears. Linda, email me at desireeholt@desireeholt.com so I can get your prize to you.
