Why did you become a reviewer?

I’ve been reading for years and never really thought to write a review on any of the books I’ve read, until one day I finished reading a book that was a cliff hanger. I went on Facebook, sent the author a friend request and inquired when would the continuation book be released. His reply about the next book I can’t recall, but he did ask if I would go on Amazon and write a review. After I wrote the review I started looking into being a reviewer and saw that there are lots of sites that welcome book reviewers.

What are your favorites genres to read in and why?

I enjoy mystery/suspense, historical and actually paranormal or horror. I am not really into romance novels because to me they pretty much have the same ingredients. With a mystery or paranoramal there is bound to be a twist and/or something new to explore.

What is one thing we would be most surprised to learn about you?

One thing that most people are surprised about is that I don’t like reading paperback books and I don’t like reading magazines.

What is something that makes you stop reading a book?

I use to collect hard back books, but when the Kindle Fire came along that was like the best invention ever. So now I hardly read actually books, but what would make me stop reading my Kindle is when the battary gets so low it starts making a warning noise, but other than that if I start a book; no matter how hard it is to read or if it just doesn’t make sense (basically it’s horrible) I will make a true effort to keep reading it until I finish it.

What books have most influenced your life? Why?

Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success by Steve Harvey. I didn’t do a review for LASR on this book, but ever so often I like to read motivational or inspiring books. Steve Harvey always seems to be up beat and comical so I figured I would give his book a read. I was truly inspired by Steve’s encouragement, and his ‘fatherly/uncle’ guidance. He wasn’t preachy, he gave his true life events, he gave pointers and helpful hints on discovering your gift. I also like that he gave you questions to ask yourself, sort of a personal measurement so that you can see where you are, stop making excuses, don’t be afraid to fail. A book with a lot of helpful information for life in general.

What book do you think should be made into a movie? Why?

Conduit by Angie Martin. While reading the book I could actually see the scenes in my mind as a movie being acted out. The author has a talent for writing; the story was something different.

What would you choose as a superpower? why?

Speed-reader….so little time, but there are several books to be read and I don’t want to miss reading a good book because I didn’t have time.

Describe your perfect reading space.

Any space is perfect for reading but if I had to say my top perfect reading space would be on the beach at the end of the day before the sunsets, when all seems calm, the waves crashing the shore, the birds making vocal nosies and very low people noises.

What were your top ten books you reviewed for LASR in 2014?

Look Away Dixieland by Marona Posey
Conduit by Angie Martin
The Color of Friendship
The Colors of Love by K.R. Raye
True Colors by K. R. Raye
