Boot Stomping Music by Joanne Kennedy
A cowboy’s love and determination face off against the stubborn pride of a champion cowgirl in my newest romance. Hell-raising bronc buster Brady Caine has always admired Suze Carlyle for her barrel racing skills, but an unexpected night of romance reveals a passionate heart and world-class body hidden under her plain-Jane shirts and baggy jeans.

Suze isn’t interested in a relationship with a heartbreaker like Brady, but when his daredevil riding causes an accident that threatens to end her career, he refuses to leave her side until she’s back in winning form. Suze is determined to keep him out of her life and her bed, but Brady isn’t the kind of cowboy who gives up when there’s something he wants.

The plot of my novel How To Kiss a Cowboy sounds a bit like a country Western song. However, when I am writing romance, I actually don’t listen to music. But I do have a rodeo mix CD my husband put together that I listen to in the car. I put it in the player and sing along, putting my heart into it—because when it comes to rodeo, it’s all about heart. As these songs (and my books) will show you.

1. Someday Soon by Suzy Bogguss. This song about a young girl who longs to follow her rodeo sweetheart despite her father’s objections is a sweet, soulful heartbreaker of a song.

2. Amarillo by Morning, George Strait. For me, this is the ultimate cowboy song. “I ain’t got a dime, but what I’ve got is mine – I ain’t rich, but Lord, I’m free.” That’s what it’s all about.

3. Cadillac Cowboy, Chris LeDoux. Christ LeDoux was a world champion bronc rider before he rose to fame as a singer/songwriter, so he knows the rodeo life inside and out. This song always sets my toe tapping, and it’s my sing-along favorite!

4. The Beaches of Cheyenne, by Garth Brooks. Rumor has it this song was inspired by Lane Frost, a young bull rider who died in the arena at Cheyenne Frontier Days after being gored by a bull. It’s a heartbreaker, as was his death.

5. What’cha Gonna Do with a Cowboy, by Garth Brooks and Chris LeDoux. For any woman who’s ever been frustrated by the morning-after laziness of her cowboy paramour, this song is a number one hit, right on the bullseye!

2_2 How To Kiss a CowboyBetween rodeo wins and endorsement deals, Saddle Bronc Champion Brady Caine is living a charmed life. But when he causes an accident that could end a promising barrel racer’s career, he decides that he’s done with loose women and wild rides. All he wants to do is erase his mistake by getting Suze Carlyle back in the saddle.

The last person barrel racer Suze wants to see on her doorstep is the man who ended her rodeo career, but she can’t help admire Brady’s persistence. Sparks fly between them, but when her barn is sabotaged she wonders if he’s really the straight shooter he seems to be…
