Whispering Cove, Book 3

Danica Kent, MD, has settled into her new role as a small-town doctor. She caters to her Whispering Cove patients, especially the rum-drinking, poker-playing, town grandfathers who have their hands in a bit of everything. But when one of those patients brings her face-to-face with her high school crush, the work she’s done to reinvent herself falters.

Braydon Mitchell sails around the world writing freelance magazine articles. With no desire to settle down, he’s successfully avoided his grandfather’s pleas to come home…until now. Returning out of worry for the old man’s health, Braydon finds old friends in town for their high school reunion. And something he hadn’t expected. Danica, the awkward teenage geek who’s all grown up—and filled out in all the right places.

From their first touch, erotic sparks make Braydon want everything he isn’t built for—small-town stability, a strong woman’s love, family. And Danica wonders if Braydon has dropped anchor for good…or if her lover will be gone with the next tide.

Danica ‘Dani’ Kent has gone from geeky girl, crushing on the town hottie, to successful physician, caring for the townspeople. She spent lots of time changing her image, with a makeover and lots of hard work to become the respectable doctor. So, when globe trotting Braydon Mitchell shows up for their ten-year reunion, why does she still get tongue-tied and clumsy, unable to walk and talk at the same time?

Braydon’s job takes him around the world, writing magazine articles on sailing and traveling. Imagine his surprise when he discovers that the hot doctor taking care of his grandfather is the geeky girl who used to follow him around annoyingly, but now she’s a beautiful and mature woman he can’t stop imaging in all sorts of sexy daydreams. Can Dani get past her crush days and form an adult relationship with Braydon? Will Braydon be able to find the sensuous woman inside the doctor’s white coat? Does the relationship have a chance or are these two ships that will just pass each other?

Wicked is Nikki Duncan’s entry into the Whispering Cove series, and a hot one it is. I like that these three authors have managed to carry on the small town ambiance and draw the reader in for more each time. The character development continues to be excellent, and the interaction between the main characters and the secondary ones is a delight. I enjoy this world, and look forward to revisiting often. I also enjoyed that all three books take place at the same time, and we see the action in the other books from a different angle. It adds to the overall enjoyment of each one.

Danica ‘Dani’ Kent is smart, dedicated and strong willed. She decided to change what she didn’t like about herself, and has been successful in her chosen career. But she is horrified to discover that, at the first sight of Braydon, the geeky girl inside comes out, and she has to fight to maintain her composure around him. I enjoyed watching as she fought to remain in control and not backslide into geekdom here.

Braydon Mitchell has been gone from Whispering Cove for ten years. He is smart, handsome, and a successful writer, producing articles about sailing and travel for magazines. When he comes home for his ten-year reunion, he is happy to see his grandparents, but isn’t prepared for the doctor that cares for his grandfather to turn his head around. And to learn that she is Dani, the geek girl who crushed on him back in the day was a big shock. That girl was in no way the beautiful, sexy and secure woman he sees now. I enjoyed watching these two heat up the pages from the very beginning.

Wicked is the third book in the first Whispering Cove trilogy, and the heat is scorching in it. I love that the scheming senior citizens are so determined to see their grandchildren back in town, and settled with their true loves. In Wicked, Nikki Duncan has provided enough sparks to set the town ablaze, and it just makes this one hard to put down. Wicked is the perfect finish to the first three in this series, and no matter the reading order, Whispering Cove is definitely one hot town to visit. I will be going back soon, and taking lots of cold drinks and tissues with me.
