How far will a strong woman bend? Maybe past the point of rescue.

The Elect, Book 3

Years ago, former Special Ops officer Carter Owens made the biggest mistake of his life. He met the woman of his dreams—and didn’t fight to keep her. Now that he’s learned Jamie Wade is still alive, and that she bore him a son, Carter plans to protect his family at all costs. Right after he’s rescued them along with several other Elect members being held prisoner in a private hospital.

He isn’t prepared to find her battered, drugged-up, and half-starved. Whatever her captor wanted, the madman hadn’t gone after it humanely.

When Jamie awakens, she’s stunned to find herself free of the abuser who tried and failed to make her admit she’s a telepath. As a police detective, she is driven to join the investigation into the organization that held her and her son captive. But she’ll have to do it in secret, away from Carter’s too-watchful, overprotective eye.

It’s always a mistake to let go of the person you love!

A long time ago Carter Owen was in love with Jamie Wade, head-over-heels in love, but life got in the way – it has a habit of doing that when you’re in the elite Special Ops. But years later, he’s found out that she’s borne him a son, not only that she’d been held prisoner and forced to take a drug that has made her telepathic like him. His instinct is to protect her, have her, claim her – for all of time.

Warrior doesn’t quite come under the heading paranormal, it’s more sci-fi/fantasy because it is about The Elect, the next race development in human evolution. People who have progressed from homo sapiens into a superior species. The fundamental idea for the story is clever, it appealed to me and certainly played on my mind about the possibility of this happening for real, and that’s one of the reasons I gave it four stars – excellent idea Ms Hunt.

The actual story itself does deliver a hot and angst ridden romance. There is plenty of sex, good, spicy sex that certainly heats up the ereader. The hero and heroine have all the right chemistry and the fact that they can communicate telepathically adds for some funny/sweet moments.

There is a simmering terrorist-type plot that bubbles along, plenty of secondary characters, lots of questions and – luckily – answers. I enjoyed the whole idea of ‘mating’ and Carter certainly has a delicious dominance about him.

If you fancy something a little different but still comes under the heading erotic romance then this might just be the book for you.
