Sylvie’s more human librarian than half-blood Fae princess and she definitely prefers books to men. Then, she learns her unwanted Lykae fiancée is marrying someone else. If she doesn’t stop the wedding, the Fae will resume the border war with the Werewolf nation. A high-handed Lykae security guard blocks her every move, and when her plans go awry, she’s kidnapped, stripped, and bound for his pleasure.

Caleb the Cold, King of the Lykae, will do anything to make his younger brother’s wedding special–even pretend he’s a security guard and kidnap his brother’s former fiancée. Punishing her is pure pleasure, until he realizes she’s his mate. Now he needs to woo the woman he’s tormented to the edge of madness, but is it too late to claim her heart, and make her his?

I love steamy romance novels that feature sexy wolf shifters, so this book was obviously right up my alley. That alone drew me in and made me choose this book, but once I got started reading this one, it wasn’t long until I realized how lucky I was in my choice. What an entertaining and sexy book this turned out to be. It had a strong plot , engaging characters and told an endearing tale of romantic turmoil that really grabbed hold and pulled me into the story. Action, scorching hot sex, some surprising intrigue and plenty of plot twists, this book had it all.

The author managed to pack a lot of meaningful story into this fast paced book. It opens up with a bang, Sylvie (a half Fae princess) is trying desperately to stop her errant fiancee from marrying another woman. She’s no longer interested in being wife to that worthless Lykae, but she knows this will be a slap in the face of her half-brother, the Fae king. Sylvie finds herself at odds with an arrogant security guard, who takes her prisoner and proceeds to torment her. What the reader finds out is that this is no security guard, instead it is Caleb, king of the Lykae, and he will stop at nothing to make sure that his brothers wedding is perfect. In all fairness to Caleb, he has been sorely mislead by his lying brother into thinking Sylvie is a greedy skank. So sexy king Caleb thinks Sylvie is a trouble making vixen and he treats her kinda badly, even though he is seriously attracted to her. He holds her prisoner in his private tower where he toys with her by playing lusty sex games that include some light bondage and spanking. Meanwhile he is slowly coming to realize that she just may be his mate. He starts out by insulting her with an offer to be his concubine and by the time she has escaped he is thinking about forever and knows he has done a lot of things he has to make up for.

The plot was complex with a lot of misunderstandings coming into play. The author threw in some suspense that livened up the story and kept it moving toward a rather climactic ending. Caleb and Sylvie find themselves in a dangerous situation with a villain that came out of left field for me. It was a total surprise, but it led to a tense and vital point in the storyline.

I liked the characters in the story. Sylvie had suffered a lot in her life and always felt not quite good enough as a result. The most striking thing about her was that she held onto her courage to do the right thing. Caleb was a hot alpha, but a flawed one. That’s the best kind. I wanted to bash him over the head for some of the things he did to Sylvie. In the end he stepped up as a true hero, though, in a very sweet way.

Now, to the juicy parts … the love scenes. This book is an erotic romance with some very explicit scenes that are not for the faint of heart. The descriptions are more vivid and detailed than most. I enjoyed the scenes with the light bondage and the spanking, finding them titillating in fact. The sex scenes where Caleb is shifted into his primal state were more than I really appreciated, but I read on cause there was no putting the book down at that point. My curiosity was definitely aroused and I simply had to know. Truth told, I found that scene to be well written and important to the romantic plot.

This book, is above all, a romance and the author created two unique characters in Caleb and Sylvie. They started off as antagonists, who enjoyed playing some kinky games, and in the end they found themselves in a fight for survival. The plot that surrounds this romance had an ingenious twist and this reader found herself wanting to see more of this fantastical world. It was a great story from Kryssie Fortune, a talented voice in the wonderful world of erotic romance and I look forward to hearing more from this author.

A recommended paranormal book.
