This is a fast paced novel with plenty of action. The world is portrayed with a lot of detail, so that it is easy to imagine the various locations. The Seeker is strong and utterly ruthless in her search for the heirs. At the same time, she is more than just a warrior, and she knows the price that her ruthlessness will have. I found her to be a very interesting and complex character, and I followed her into the dark reaches of the thieves, as she searches for Adela and her younger brother Lukas.

There are a number of twists and turns in this plot as the Seeker works to discover who took the children, where the children are now, and who is behind the kidnapping. I can’t be any more specific without giving away spoilers, but I was very surprised by several of the twists. The Seeker is helped along the way by some unlikely characters, each with their own agendas, but she’ll take whatever help she is offered.

Fantasy lovers will certainly enjoy this world with all of its intrigue and mystery. Will the heirs be found before Normaud descends into political chaos? Not if the Seeker has her way, but will she be in time? I hope that there will be more novels from this world, and I look forward to further adventures with The Seeker.
