Jeremiah, his brother, leaves for the doctor and his assistant to get help. While helpless, with darkness falling, a strange beast stalks him from the bushes near where he lies helpless.

This is a deliciously scary thriller/suspense tale. It’s written in an old style, and although not explicitly stated so has the feel of a Western setting or perhaps a Frontier style piece. I quickly became used to the author’s voice and greatly enjoyed the tension and build up of what would happen to Jonathan and whether Jeremiah would be able to rescue him. It’s important to note this is only part one. While there is some resolution there isn’t a definitive ending and I hope there’s more to come, to round out the tale.

A really good, quick read.
