“Sometimes you have to go back to move forward. ”

Twelve years ago, Nadya Sarov and her mother fled Dale, Georgia, in the dead of night. Now she s back, but just long enough to tie up some loose ends. And if she gets a chance to flaunt her hard-won success to the town gossips who called her “gypsy whore,” all the better.

To her surprise, some memories die hard. Especially the hotter ones that still simmer for J.T. McBride, the preacher s son who was too honorable to take the virginity she offered all those years ago.

J.T. lost a big chunk of his innocence on the Iraqi front lines, and now that Nadya is once again close enough to touch, he doesn t plan on losing her again. But first he has to convince her that Dale isn t the mouth of hell she thinks she remembers.

Just as their remembered passion begins to melt Nadya s resolve to get back to New York as soon as possible, someone with an old grudge makes it clear they ll do anything to see her gone. Permanently.

When you run, the last thing you ever want to do is look back. Or come back. Especially when coming back means facing those in the small town who wanted nothing more than to run you out.

Nadya was cast as an outsider. Both she and her gypsy mother. There weren’t many people in Dale, the little town they lived in when Nadya was growing up. Times haven’t changed, but circumstances have, and those are what bring Nadya back to her past. I easily connected with Nadya. I know first hand what it’s like to be looked down on, and so her feelings, her actions, I understood completely. She’s a strong woman and when she left Dale she made a great life for herself. She struggles with some of the folks in Dale when she comes back, but I have to say she handles things with grace and poise. She learns to forgive and forget, even when those same haters don’t want to. With the help of her best friend Mary Ellen, and sexy cop J.T. She might just find herself a few surprises…such as love.

Now J.T…I love him! He’s a sweetheart. He was the preacher’s son back then, ready to leave Dale and never look back. Well, guess who’s now a police officer in Dale. Yup, J.T. He’s one of the few that’s very happy to see Nadya back. He’s always cared about her, and they shared something the summer before she was run off, and he’s never been able to get her out of his mind. J.T. is a fierce protector. Let’s just say if someone were messing with me I’d want him in my corner. I love his tenderness with Nayda.

This is a well written story that grabbed my attention right away. I love the chemistry between J.T. And Nadya, and throughout the story, they were certainly a couple to root for. I’d hoped that they could find themselves a happily ever after without all the drama from the towns people. The pacing of the story is great, snappy, fun dialog and well rounded characters.

This was my first read by this author and it won’t be my last. I adored this book, and I highly recommend it!
