This short story packs one heck of a wallop. Emotions are strong and felt in abundance, proving why this author has earned a spot on my auto buy list. We have met this couple before in the first book of the Poker Posse series: Looking at Rose. Now we get her mother, Viola’s story. Viola is stunned when a man from her past comes back into her life through her daughter’s marriage. Vladamir has never forgotten the one woman that he lost all those years ago and now he finds out the one secret that could tear them apart.

The love that Vladamir and Viola share transcends time and place. Not only miles apart but also worlds apart yet their love for one another never dies in fact it only grows stronger. Even after so many years apart they share a love that cannot be broken. There have been so many secrets and so many regrets but the two learn to look forward not dwell on the past and all the what ifs. Both have lived a half-life longing for what they lost and never taking the chances that they were given. I truly enjoyed seeing Viola and Vladamir reconnect and hope that we get to see more of them in future books. Both have grown in the years that they have been apart but when they come together it is as if no time has passed at all.

Not many books will pull on your heartstrings like this one and it will only make you want more. I can count on one hand how many books have made me feel so strongly and have actually made me cry like this one. I am excited to return to this world and see where the author will take this series.
