The heat that flared between them could have set fire to everyone in the bar. But it was the invisible link that occurs between Dom and sub that made Abbie forget all about her aches and pains. If I had picked up this story wanting a long and torrid love affair in which I could contemplate how the characters fell for each other page after page, I would have been sorely disappointed. As it is, I wasn’t. Overnight Sensation is a short story that delivers what the title implies: a sizzling tale that takes place over one night.

From page one, Desiree Holt’s characters stand out. Abbie is a super sweet, slightly inexperienced sub looking for something more. Sam is an experienced Dom also searching for something different. The way they interacted and the time they spent together is a combination between sweet and extremely hot.
The only reservations I initially had with this tale was how Abbie and Sam were going to fall in love in such a short span of time. The author attempts to mend this by throwing in words like fate or karma. However, what really solved my qualms was a simple explanation offered by the characters. At one point, Abbie mentions what I had been thinking, how could they be falling so fast if they had just met? Sam answers: “Sometimes that’s all it takes.” Followed by “Then, we’ll see.” Knowing that yes, they had a connection but they would also see where it was going to take them in the future made the story much more believable than simply attributing things to fate.
The story flows easily, sexy moments (I loved the meeting scene at the crowded bar) mingling with Abbie’s musings or Sam’s thoughts, both point of views kept clear and separate. The sex scenes were scorching and vividly described.
Overnight Sensation is worth reading if looking for something quick, steamy and sweet at the same time.
