Single dad Patrick Owen has been refined in the fires of betrayal. Now he knows exactly what he wants—Lucy Carter—and he’s ready to claim her along his best friend.

Beekeeper Beck O’Malley’s heart has been shattered, and he withdraws from the world until Lucy heals his heart. He’s held the spirited woman at arm’s length, until he can no longer fight his attraction to her. Unfortunately, Beck and Lucy clash nearly as often as they kiss, and his possessiveness sets her on edge even as she falls deeper in love with him.

This is the 15th book in the Divine Creek Series. Heather Rainier continues to surprise and delight me with her skilled story weaving. Patrick was someone who was introduced towards the very beginning of the series as a secondary character with a minor part. But readers have been able to see him all throughout the series the same as Beck. We’ve met Beck before were able to learn a little bit about him before he became center stage in this book. Lucy is the spunky sister to the resident tattoo artist we met several books ago.

Ms. Rainier was able to keep all of these characters fresh enough for the reader that when it was time for sexy Patrick and mouthy Beck to man up and accept their changing relationship with Lucy we were cheering and waiting anxiously for these characters happily ever after, which is one of Ms. Rainier’s specialties.

The Divine Creek Ranch series and it’s characters are so entwined and close knit that we still see our favorite characters from practically every book all the while any reader would be able to pick up any book in the series and not feel totally lost. Not many authors can not only juggle the amount of characters after 15 books but also include a cross over with another series/author and still pull it off as beautifully as she has done.

I can’t wait to read more from this author and if you are like feeling as if you’re meeting old friends every time you open a book, then I suggest you pick this up. You’ll feel right at home.
