He lurked in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity to strike. All he wanted was the power of life. There was only way to steal it, collect the hearts of seven women and present them to the bringer of life, during the hour All Hallow’s Eve when the veil between the physical and the spiritual realms were the thinnest.

In a city where casting spells and supernatural beings were welcome, Dana had trouble quelling her gifts. With the touch of life or death, and never knowing when it would work, she avoided contact with humans and Others alike. When she rescues Simon, a handsome member of the Council, and her touch doesn’t kill, she knows he’s the one. Despite the connection they share, there’s a price. Someone will have to die.

Dana is considered a menace because she cannot control her gift and is putting others in harm’s way. So she decides that since she cannot control her power then she will throw herself into the raging river, thus eliminating any future problems. Dana’s power is to bring back the dead, but somehow she was having an issue focusing that power. Feeling alone, Dana decided that the only way to protect everyone was to cease to exist.

Simon could not let Dana do this especially because he was the reason the council was so hard on Dana. She saved his life but he was injured in the process which caused the council to blame Dana. Simon could not let her throw her life or gift away so he talked her down, letting her know that she was not alone and that he would stand by her side.

Love’s Deadly Touch was a good but quick read, and the characters of Simon and Dana helped give the story depth. It had romance and intrigue in the form of a soul stealer which Simon and Dana had to find before All Hallows Eve. I enjoyed Love’s Deadly Touch but would have liked it to be a little longer and the characters fleshed out a bit more. There were other characters in the story that I would have liked to find out more about, like her brother Danny. Maybe there will be a follow up story to this one which would explain more about Dana and her gift.
