Anthony has never let on to the general public that he’s a vampire, and most of his staff members have no idea Boston Uncommon was a safe gathering place for supernaturals of all kinds. Now that it’s nothing but ash, the tentative peace among warring factions is starting to crumble. The last thing he wants to do is put Claudia in danger, but he also knows there’s no way he can let her go…

Anthony and Claudia’s story is one that merges the paranormal and real world seamlessly. At times I felt as if vampires, shifters and wizards could really exist, because the story just seemed so natural.

Anthony may not be human any longer, but his still seems to have may human traits. Compassion and kinship are two of the strongest traits he seems to exhibit in this story. It is also what drives him to pursue Claudia, as well as try to bring the paranormal world together. There was one thing I did find contradictory about his life, and that is bits of his past. They mention his killing of humans in the past and allude to the fact that it was in some cases a choice and not out of necessity. This seems to go against everything Anthony is in modern day. Other than that I absolutely enjoyed him.

Claudia is a great character and person. I love the personality flaws she has such as alcoholism because it made her that much more real to me. She seems to struggle with herself, but not her need to help others and care for them. It is what helps me understand why Anthony wants her so badly and makes me want to best for her.

The plotline of this story was truly entertaining. I have to admit that I have not read a book so quickly in a long time because I just could not put it down. This story offered the complete package, from internal conflicts, antagonist, intriguing subplots, and a remarkable supporting character list. Ruxandra, Anthony’s psycho ex-girlfriend and Gaia a.k.a. mother earth are only a few of the characters who stole my heart. Hands down this was an entertaining read and one I would highly recommend.
