Liana Campbell moved to Kalispell to escape her obsessive ex-husband and to give her teenage daughter a healthy environment. The love of a good man would top off her wish list, but too many complications shadow her life.

Michael Saxon relocated to find a slow-paced life with his teenage son. He works a full day but enjoys recreational time and few complications. After an unhappy marriage, a serious relationship isn’t on his horizon, until a dog named Lucky forces his meeting with Liana Campbell. Liana rocks his boat, but she’s hiding something, and he won’t risk his new life until he knows what it is.

When life gets hectic, and crazy, the last thing one needs is love, right?

But that’s just what she finds when she meets Michael. Their meeting was by pure accident, but maybe, with a little luck, things might turn around. Michael is a contractor, which is something Liana desperately needs for her shambled home. I like Liana. She can be a spitfire at times, but she’s a good mother, and she holds her own against her annoying ex.

Michael has an ex of his own to deal with, and wouldn’t you know it, he’s the caregiver for his teenage son, and his ex wife absolutely hates that their son isn’t with her. She makes things a bit difficult. Michael doesn’t expect to find a relationship with Liana, but he can’t help the way he feels, either.

Just Plain Lucky is a story about second chances, about finding that diamond in the rough when everything is already hectic. Both Michael and Liana have good, thriving careers and they have to learn to put the other first if they are going to make this relationship. The romance is realistic with the pair- there’s things that come up in work life when they are trying to spend time together, of course there’s the ex issues, family life, and raising their kids. Very true to life, but yet still engaging. Now, there are some times where the story lagged, or things got a bit too much, but overall, I enjoyed it. I was rooting for this couple because they had so much going against them that they needed this one thing to work.

If you’re looking for a romance with a second chance and a whole lot of drama, Just Plain Lucky is it!
