Janice Freeman, a fashion designer with a business in Manhattan, is bummed because she has just turned forty, is single and losing her best friend Marcy, who is moving back to Michigan. When she hears the music of the ice cream truck she decides to give herself a birthday treat by buying an ice cream. Little does she know that she is in store for more than just something cold and tasty.

Antonio Rodriquez is an out of work actor trying to make ends meet by doing odd jobs. Today he is in the East Village selling ice cream from a truck when he sees a beautiful woman coming towards him. Intrigued and excited he starts up a conversation with her.

Ice Cream Man is a cute story that has a gorgeous twenty-seven year old man falling for a beautiful forty year old woman. Janice was instantly attracted to him as he was to her, and it was cute to see how Janice tried to overlook the age difference while Antonio didn’t see a problem with it. The characters were engaging but this reader felt that there wasn’t a lot of chemistry between them, there was sex but something was missing. The story moved a little slowly at times, but the interaction between the characters made up for that. The author made sure that the reader saw Janice’s internal struggle of knowing that she was older, while Antonio tried to convince her that it didn’t matter.

Ice Cream Man is a pleasant story and I enjoyed how the author brought the characters to life for you, which helped you as the reader to care that these two people get together.
