With more than one skeleton rattling in her closet, Sugar Cassavechia hopes “The Most Honest Town in Texas” will be the perfect place to start an online business. As soon as her mother remembers the family recipe that’ll get hotterthanhellnuts.com off the ground.

In the meantime, no way is Sugar letting their new landlord get away with renting them a run-down house that’s decorated like a rich widow’s orgasm. Even if he’s the biggest hunk of hot she’s ever laid eyes on.

Jake Bentley would love to do nothing but sit back and be amused as the Cassavechia women unwittingly stir up trouble in his uptight town. But something about them thaws out his frozen rescue complex. Especially Sugar’s long, chestnut hair and sassy mouth.

It’s time for one family to start over in small town Texas. Pecan Creek is not what Sugar, Lucy or Maggie expected, but maybe there’s still a chance to turn things around. To forget about the past, and put the ghosts of their troubles at bay.

It’s not going to be that easy. Pecan Creek and its people have a certain reputation that they want to uphold. The conflict begins when they rent a house from Jake.  He doesn’t give the best impression at first, and his mother is certainly a piece of work. Yes, it’s certainly going to take some getting used to…

Sugar is a quirky, but good-hearted heroine. She loves her mom and her sister, and is willing to do what she can to make sure they get the life they deserve. Each woman is going through their own troubles, and staying together as a family could be just what they needed.

Jake is stuck in a position between a rock and a hard place. His mother has high expectations, and begins to make some trouble. Jacob is attracted to Sugar, but he knows it can’t go anywhere.

The setting is a real good small town feel. The characters are so quirky, very memorable, and I love the continuous humor and banter that goes on in the book. The pacing is a little on the slow side, but I love the characters enough to look past it. The relationship development between Sugar and Jake is also a little slow, but I love the way they fight their attraction and feelings until they just can’t any longer. I also love that secondary characters have a great part in the story, and there are some good things in store for them too.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. The authors writing is light, fun and full of character and emotion. Hotter in Texas is a well written, lighthearted story, just perfect for a warm spring day. Why not let your temperature rise with Hotter in Texas?
