“Best friends make the best husbands.” That’s a direct quote from the book but it so accurately describes this pairing. There was an underlying love there that didn’t have anything to do with sex and everything to do with a bond forged over time because they chose to be friends first.

They’re so adorable, what can I say? Brad is that exasperating friend that makes your eyes squint at his antics and yet, it’s as natural as breathing to gravitate to his circle. The fact that Cam has been in love with him from a distance since they were teens was certainly an influence on Brad’s ability to talk him into whatever scheme but, Cam’s not stupid or blindly following. His calm, handle whatever comes his way (or Brad’s way when necessary) is part of his appeal as character. I was glad the author didn’t make Brad a macho douche who simply took advantage of a friend because he could. I liked Brad. He was a little oblivious but is was actually pretty charming.

The story moves back and forth between both Brad and Cameron’s POV but it’s always clear who’s head the reader is in because the chapter is labeled. I appreciated the fact that I did get to see the story from both angles. I got to feel Cam’s anxiety and excitement and thought processes for deciding to accept Brad’s offer. But then I also got to see the light bulb come on for Brad when he realized what he had right in front of him and what everyone else had already figured out. It was sweet. And then it got really, really sexy.

The dialogue was fun and for this to be a self-pubbed story, it was pretty clean. I wasn’t constantly stumbling over grammar issues though there were some odd extra punctuation marks. That could have been a formatting issue though. It doesn’t take away from the story itself.

This little short is so worth the read. I know that an often used trope in MM books is friends/family that have a problem with the couple.That isn’t a part of this story and I appreciated that. It’s entertaining without taking me on an emotional roller coaster. It’s perfect for someone looking for a light read, a feel good story.
