Ian thought he was going to spend summer keeping a rich, bored patron happy, but Frank was more interested in using him for Satanic rituals than in partying and sex. He fled, but Frank isn’t willing to let him go. Will the bikers who’ve picked him up help him, or be a different kind of danger? Dee, their magus, has to rescue Ian from Frank’s magic, while resisting the temptation to get involved with a much younger man who can’t possibly want him except maybe out of duty or gratitude.

Ian has run scared into the night, chased by demons from Hell. Dee and his friends have been driven to finding Ian, unconscious and hiding, by the magic that helps make them fight monsters most of the world don’t even believe in. At first Dee is sure it’s some of the dark magic surrounding Ian from his near escape that is responsible for the incredibly powerful, sexual reaction he has to the younger man, but after saving him and spending some time in his company neither man can deny the simmering chemistry between them.

I absolutely loved this book! I never would have guessed that a biker gang with gay men fighting dark magic would tick so many boxes of enjoyment for me – but it absolutely did. This short story had me perplexed, then enthralled and finally loving every word by the end. I wish it had been much longer, this is an awesome idea and really well written. Ian and Dee are both interesting characters. They don’t simply jump right into bed with each other, but let their trust and desire grow naturally. When the plot reaches its pinnacle I was glued to my seat, devouring every word. This is a fantastic book.

Having said that, this won’t be a book to everyone’s tastes. The bikers use the magical power of the angels to defend against evil – and some people might not like how many of this crew are gay. Also, while there is a brief mention of a gang-rape in Ian’s recalling of the party he escaped, it is mentioned in passing – there is no dwelling, or details other than actually stating what occurred. Unless readers don’t even want to have mention of such things, this shouldn’t press anyone’s buttons, but again it won’t be something every reader will want to come across. Neither of these things lessened my enjoyment one bit. If you’re up for a bit of fun, and are willing to cast aside a small bit of logic, and open your mind to one perspective of how a band of non-conforming characters can use the powers of good against evil, this can be a delightful, imaginative, very sexy read. That’s exactly how I found it and am eagerly looking for more.
