Love can be a lifeline.

Play Doctor, Book 2

As thrilled as Luke Malone is for his best friends, Kurt and Becca, enough is enough. The couple welcomed him into their lives, and their bed. But lately, he’s feeling less like a participant in their happiness…and more like an intruder.

Yet when a beautiful woman comes to his sexual psychology practice, Luke is forced to turn her away. It’s not that he doesn’t want to help her, it’s that he wants her. Too much to stay impartial.

Brielle Norris would rather have a root canal than see a shrink. But she’s had enough of letting the scars from an abusive relationship rule her life. Knees knocking, she steps into the psychologist’s office—and runs right into a tall, handsome man whose gilded perfection makes her own quirky faults even more painfully obvious.

She never expected he’d hand her off to one of his colleagues—then take a personal support role in the unconventional treatment she needs to heal.

In tandem with Kurt and Becca, Luke strives to teach Brielle that not all relationships end in disaster. At least this one won’t—if he can keep her safe when her past rears its ugly head.

The last thing Brielle Norris wants to do is see another counselor. But she is smart enough to know she will never get past the nightmares of the abusive relationship she was able to escape without help. She wants to live a normal life, and that includes a healthy sexual relationship with someone, in the future. But when she goes to Dr. Luke Malone’s sexual psychology clinic, he feels honor bound to refer her to another practitioner because, as much as Luke wants to help Brielle, he can’t be objective with her treatment; he wants her for himself, and that would be unethical. He does refer her to the best in the field, after him, that is; his friends, Drs. Becca and Kurt Foster.

When he proposes that she sees Becca, and let him go with her, Brielle agrees to the arrangement. As she opens up, it becomes clear that Brielle could greatly benefit from Kurt’s invention, the Dream Machine, to help her overcome her fears and insecurities. As the attraction grows, Brielle discovers that some of the desires she has are perfectly normal, if a bit on the, well, kinky side, and that Luke shares in the things that interest her. As the unconventional therapy continues, can Brielle let go of her fears, and move on to a happy future, preferably with Luke? Will Luke find what he’s been searching for with Brielle? When her past comes back to haunt her, will Brielle crumple, or stand tall and conquer those fears once and for all?

Healing Touch is the second in Jayne Rylon’s Play Doctor series, and it was worth the wait. The world Ms. Rylon has built is highly sensual, and not for the faint of heart. The characters in this are strong and well crafted, with only one new character being introduced here. This is a book filled with passion, and tension of many kinds. I enjoyed seeing the characters interact, both in and out of the bedroom/laboratory. Nothing is left to the imagination in this one, and the characters’ strength is the one thing I found to be constant throughout the story.

Brielle Norris begins this story as a confused but determined woman. She wants so badly to live a ‘normal’ life, but her many fears tend to overwhelm her at times. She is smart and has a fantastic sense of humor that sees her through her darker periods, and has learned to compensate accordingly to avoid her hot buttons. I liked watching as she opened up to Luke, revealing her fears and dreams/nightmares to him. I love her courage and her willingness to follow through with every direction that Becca proposes. As she gets closer to Luke, I love that she is seeing that all men are not like her father, or her ex Brad.

Luke Malone is strong, intelligent and gorgeous, but he has been alone for too long. After his friends, Kurt and Becca, finally found their happily ever after, he wants what they have, and is less interested in the sharing they are used to. I enjoyed watching as her came back to the vibrant man he should be under Brielle’s attentions. I loved his loyalty, and above all, his determination to help Brielle overcome all her fears and nightmares, even the ones she has kept buried so deep, she didn’t realize they were there. His gentleness with her shows that a man can be strong but sensitive and caring too.

This is an intense and passionate book, with nothing left undone. If you want subtlety and innuendo, this is not the book for you. Brielle and Luke have a chemistry that leads to many extremes, and their bedroom scenes burn the pages, they are so detailed and hot.

This one is for those brave and adventurous readers who like their romance super hot, with no-holds-barred participation by all the characters at some points, and with a happy ever after at the end.
