From the bestselling paranormal author of The Whispers Series comes a new fantasy saga.

Born with mark of the Mighty Hunter, Markus has the skill and strength to feed his people, but not to confront his own tyrannical father. Shamed by his cowardice, Markus releases his frustration on the forest creatures.

The village prophet warns that Markus’s reckless ways will bring down The Hunter’s Curse, and for every animal Markus kills, his loved ones will suffer the same fate. When the warnings go unheeded, the Sky Goddess unleashes her ice dragon. Now Markus must flee the dragon without killing it or his beloved brother will die.

The main cause of generic cialis 40mg this type of disorder is a men affected syndrome which causes the deficiency in sexual activity. Organic diseases like urethritis, seminal vesiculitis, prostatitis can decrease the excitement of male ejaculation center, thus, the occurrence of ejaculation will be easier. 3.Other factors. viagra price uk Medications like Clomid, Serophene and Milophene are usually the first line of action to stimulate the ovaries purchase cheap viagra to release more eggs and thereby increase the chances of becoming pregnant. Markus’s flight takes him to the lands of the mysterious Ice People. There, the beautiful maiden Ura helps Markus learn the compassion and courage he needs to face the wrath of the Goddess, but the final confrontation will not be without price, as Markus must choose between the life of his brother and the fate of the girl he loves.

What a journey! From the birth of Markus — already marked with special powers– there is tension present in this book. Although his older brother tries to counteract the influence of their father, more and more Markus turns hard–killing for the pleasure of killing and no longer merely to provide food.

Eventually, his behavior leads to the fruition of a curse promised at his birth–and the death of his family. Now, he has to find a way to reverse it before his brother dies.

The author has done a great job creating this world where the families of the village depend on hunters for their survival–and shows the fine line that exists between the necessary killing for survival and killing for the sport of killing. Other issues she touches on are child abuse and the need to take care of the environment.

Her primary accomplishment, though, is the creating of characters that leap of the page and come to life. All of them, even the secondary characters, are fully drawn and three dimensional. The reader cares about the characters and what happens to them. And, since this is just the first book of the series, leaves the reader anxious to find out what will happen next.

Thanks, Ms. West, for a fun read!

  1. Thank you for hosting

  2. How many other books are there in this series?

  3. Thanks, Rose. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Astilbe, to answer your question, there’s currently a prelude novella, titled Witch Flame, a free download on all ebook sites.

I’m working on book five in another series and then it’s back to book two in this saga. 😉 Tara

    Nice review, Rose.
Like Astilbe, I’d like to know how many books are planned for the series. I’m terrible at keeping up with series and really prefer things (even if part of a series) that can be read as stand-alones.

  5. Catherine, I this will be a three book saga, plus the free short prelude that I mentioned above. TY for asking. 😉

  6. Crystal Woodmancy says

This sounds like its right up my alley 🙂 got the prelude book ready to read!

  7. Karen H in NC says

    Thanks for that nice review.

Question for Tara: What characters are the hardest/easiest for you to write: The hero, the heroine, the villain (or villainess), the secondary male & female characters? What are the most fun to write?

  8. Great review, I think I’m going to like this one.

  9. Yay, Crystal. I hope you enjoy it. Ice Dragon is also just .99 on Kindle this week only. It will be back up to 2.99 next week.

  10. Karen, I think villains are always easier to write. They’re vindictive and selfish and set on destruction. The heroes/heroines are hardest as they’ve got lessons to learn. I find myself diving deep into their characters and exploring a range of emotions. In Ice Dragon, Markus starts out a bit of a challenge. He’s got a lot of growing up to do before he can complete his quest.

  11. Sounds like a fun read
