When Matt’s partner Jordan suggests redecorating, Matt’s agreeable until he discovers it means getting rid of the red couch. They bought that couch together, and they’ve done a lot more than sit on it. It means a lot to Matt and if Jordan’s bored of it, maybe it’s not the only part of Jordan’s life he wants to change…

Jordan wants to redecorate and Matt, relaxing after a lovely meal with a glass of wine in hand just wants to chill, not discuss colours. More than willing to indulge his lover, Matt’s more focused on getting Jordan to give him a blow job than the new decorating plans – until Jordan decides the couch has to go. Sentimental about the piece of furniture, Matt isn’t happy to part with it, but is reluctant to cause a scene.

I found myself laughing aloud in places in this story as there are some real moments of hilarity between both Jordan and Matt. Some of the one-liners were classic (Jordan’s e-reader being so crammed with “stroke stories” it practically dripped lube had me getting strange glances from my family as I burst into giggles). At times fun and frivolous, this also had quite a serious side to it. Matt and Jordan are both delightfully flawed characters, realistic and far more loveable because neither are perfect. The conflict between them is well written and believable, and best of all their love shines through even when they’re arguing or being obstinate. I also particularly liked the couch sex scenes – there is some awesomely hot erotica in this piece.

Funny and heartwarming – this is a beautiful story and exceedingly well written. Strongly recommended.
