Allison Stiles is the epitome of responsibility. Guardian to her two rambunctious younger brothers, she also runs a home daycare. While she doesn’t have time for a vacation, she really needs a diversion.

Enter Eric Thomas, her new neighbor. Tall, dark and handsome and just what she needs to get her mind off her responsibilities, even if only for a short time.

Moving into the house he inherited from his uncle was not part of Eric Thomas’ plan. Yet, starting a new business ties up a good portion of his capital, so he forgoes the fancy downtown apartment for the quaint Rogers Park neighborhood.

Now if he could just get his mind off his sexy neighbor and back on the business at hand.

Eric is excited about moving into his uncle’s house and starting his business again in a larger city with more potential clients. His partner will join him later, once he’s found an office for them. He’s not excited about the daycare center across the street…

This is sweet short story that is fun to read. Eric has no experience with children but that’s going to change. Allison has set aside having a love life to raise her two younger brothers and has no time for romance. The author makes every situation sound authentic, the story flows well, and it ends well, too. This is a light read that’s enjoyable and keeps your attention.

When her brothers get in trouble at school, her neighbors aren’t home to help, so she asks Eric for help. He’s not happy about it but he is interested in her so he says yes. When she gets back, he’s covered in paint, has been vomited on and he just runs out of the house, even forgetting his jacket. That’s not a good start for a relationship.

It’s a slow smooth romance that includes lots of children, several challenges and some attitude changing and growing on both sides. Reading about the children’s antics was half the fun.

This is a really pleasant read. Get yourself a cup of coffee or tea, find a comfy chair and read this uplifting story. Ms. Fraser did a very nice job with a full romance in a short story. I’d read more by this author and I think you will, too.
