Dr. Cole MacDonald didn’t count on stumbling upon a dead woman’s body while he was out running as a bear. He did the right thing and called 911 but wonders if that might put him and his fellow shifters in some sort of predicament. The homicide detective assigned to the case is Samantha Hardy who’s got all the attributes Cole likes in his women, well, apart from being human.

This short book was another great read in the Kalispell Shifters Series. The story and wonderfully vibrant characters easily captured my attention and kept me entertained until the final page.

As usual, it was the likable characters that drew me into this paranormal story. I had met grizzly shifter Cole MacDonald in the last book and he caught my interest when he helped bring Brady and Jenna back together. I was happy to get into his story, which proved to be more suspenseful, somewhat more humorous, but every bit as passionate and angsty.

The plot was intriguing as Cole became a murder suspect after finding a dead body in the woods. Samantha, the homicide detective investigating the case turns out to be his mate. Their attraction was immediate and so Cole realizes Sam is the one for him. He just has to find a way to make her trust him. There was a lot of sexual tension in this one, and a lot of emotional drama. Sam had a painful childhood and as a result she guarded her heart and her trust. She was honest with Cole and warned him that if he betrayed her trust then she might not be able to forgive him. So I was imagining big drama that would happen when Cole revealed the truth to her. Well there was drama, and humor, but I felt Sam accepted it all rather easily. The mystery of the murder was pieced together throughout the story, too. The chemistry between Cole and Sam was great and their intimate scenes were scorching hot.

Overall this was a good book with an exciting story and wonderful characters. The author did a good job with the writing on this one. So l do recommend it and look forward to the next book in the Kalispell Shifters Series.
