To win a frightened heart, you have to bare your own.

Any woman would be eager to be Ryan Williams’s mate. Any woman but Glory Walsh. The sexy bear shifter is beautiful, strong and persistent, she’ll give him that. But Glory’s past taught her one simple truth: people leave. She can’t get past the fact he left her once before. Okay, so he had a good reason, and he did come back. Try convincing her emotions.

When Glory finally agrees to a date, Ryan feels like shouting hallelujah. He only left his mate to hunt down the man who’d shot her, but convincing the stubborn woman she has a permanent place at his side is tougher than he thought.

Their date takes a turn for the bizarre when Glory thanks Ryan for the series of romantic gifts—gifts Ryan never sent. It seems her past is coming back to bite her, and before it has a chance to sink its teeth in and tear her out of his life, Ryan will have to bare it all, right down to his soul, to protect the woman he loves. Even from herself.

Ryan Williams knew that Glory Walsh with her soft blue curls and sky blue eyes was his mate.  Getting her to accept him and his bear was entirely another matter. He knew she had been hurt, abused and abandoned by her family, so he had to prove to her that he would always be there and that she would always be protected. He had to do this fast because his mate dreams were becoming more and more vivid.

Glory Walsh didn’t believe that Ryan would not leave her.  After all he did once although he came back — the fact still remained that he left. She was however starting to soften towards him but something was still keeping her from becoming his mate.

Bear Naked is a very enjoyable story, one that is filled with humor, sarcasm, shifters and mystery. It will keep you engaged from beginning to end and you will find yourself chuckling throughout the book. The first book I read by this author was Bear Necessities which is the first book in the Halle Shifter series. That book was about Ryan’s cousin Alex “Bunny” Bunsun and Tabitha Garwood. I was so entertained by that book that I read the second in the series, and was left wanting more.

Bear Naked was not just about Ryan getting Glory to accept him as a mate, but it involved the disappearance of her twin sister Hope, and the search for her brother Temp and younger sister Faith. As this mystery unraveled this reader became more and more invested in the characters.

Dana Marie Bell has a way of drawing you into her books; you immediately love the characters because they talk to each other the way you would speak to your friends and family. Her characters are down to earth they just happen to have been a little quirky and they can change into Bears, Foxes, Wolves and Pumas.

This can be read as a standalone, but I would suggest that you start with the first book because most of the characters are introduced and it makes it easier to know all the players. So the question is whether I would recommend this book, and the answer is a resounding yes. I would recommend all the books in this series thus far, and I look forward to reading Hope’s story which I know is going to be a good one.
