The zombie apocalypse has happened and Bryce finds himself completely alone until his life is saved by Richard. Bryce joins with Richard and his partner, Cole, heading for a haven they’ve heard about on the radio.
This a fast paced book, full of action and humanity. A realistic story of three men who band together after an apocalyptic zombie infection, this wasn’t gory or overly bloodthirsty. Nevertheless it gives the reader a deep insight to how seemingly normal things would change and the effect that would have on people. Strangers grouping for comfort and strength, just how far they would be pushed for survival – not only against the zombies but also for smaller things, like food, safety, travel and sleep.
More than the zombie-plot, this is a book that explores the emotions of a threesome, and of how such a stressful event can effect people. I found myself drawn into the triangle between Richard, Bryce and Cole and the complexities of their relationship and the situation they found themselves in. Readers with a queasy stomach might want to be careful reading this – there are deaths and, while not graphic they’re not glossed over either. And while there is sex in it – this is definitely a plot and character heavy novella. The erotica is just a bit of extra spice – not the main meal. Quite a different story from most books I’ve read – I really enjoyed this.
