Kyle isn’t typically a voyeur but when his sexy neighbor forgets to close his curtains, he finds it difficult to look away. And why should he? It’s just a little harmless fun and maybe an erotic bit of self-pleasure to balance out the long hours he’s put in on the job lately. Next time he’ll exercise some self-control and turn away from the too-hot-for-words spectacle, but just this once he’s determined to let himself enjoy the show. Jackson might have been offended by his neighbor’s voyeuristic evening had Jackson not taken advantage of the delicious show he unwittingly inspired. Unwilling to let the opportunity to turn a smoldering fantasy into a scorching-hot sex life, Jackson invites Kyle over for a drink and is pleasantly surprised to find Kyle is smart, sexy and someone Jackson wants to get to know-in bed and out.

It all started with a howling kitty. When Kyle takes a casual glance outside to determine the source of the ruckus keeping him from blessed sleep, everything is knocked off kilter in a most spectacular way. Enter the sexy, mysterious neighbor who just happens to be stripping in front his open window. The appearance of Jackson’s sleek body only ups the ante. But will watching be enough to satisfy Kyle’s curiosity?

I wasn’t sure I was going to like Kyle much at first. The idea that he’d spy on his neighbor changing and use it as an opportunity to gain satisfaction from it kind of put me off in the beginning. I was pleasantly surprised that I found it sexy and enticing more than I found it weird in the end. It also helped that Kyle was a touch appalled with himself at first, too, I think. However, I ended up really liking him and the easy relationship he and Jackson eventually fell into.

Jackson, on the other hand, I liked from the very beginning. Stuck in a job he doesn’t exactly hate, he’s still looking for something more, that next big break. He’s a hard worker and a bit more serious than Kyle comes off. I also think we get to know him a bit better than we do Kyle, making him a little more well-rounded. He and Kyle are perfect balances for each other, enough to steady the other but not so much so that the fun dies either.

There is a lot to love about A Friendly Neighbor, the cat Maxwell most of all. He’s a character and a half in himself, but aren’t most cats? Also, the natural banter between Jackson and Kyle makes for easy reading and enjoyable dialogue. Probably the most refreshing thing about this story is that while both men are eager to prove their physical attraction to the other, they both remain determined to take it slowly and wait to consummate the relationship only when they both feel it’s the right time. It’s nice to see that not every man in a romance novel is ready to throw down fourteen minutes into the relationship. A Friendly Neighbor is an enjoyable, light-hearted read that is both humorous and sexy. I would love another glimpse into the world of these two and see how they’re fairing in the future.
