I thoroughly enjoyed this book of love in the military. Both Carrie and Beau are career military and do not want anything to get in the way of their goals. Unfortunately, love doesn't care about goals. When Carrie gets assigned to Djbouti, Africa, the temperature is not the only thing heating up. The “Ice Queen” melts when she starts running with Beau. I love how they both are so competitive and neither one wants to slow up.

Carrie has a hard time with some of the secondary characters. Some of the women that she bunks with are very petty.  I loved to hate Cindy. She is written as the perfect evil character. Even Beau's best friend, Crash gives Carrie a hard time once in a while. These characters play important parts in the development and forward movement of the story.

I did not realize that there was a fraternization rule in the military -- my niece met her husband in Iraq and they fraternized for over a year before getting married. Because of that rule, though, I enjoyed the conversations between Beau and Carrie as they danced around much of what they wanted to say for fear of others hearing. When they finally get together, the scenes are very hot and quite well written. I did not like how long it took them to realize the solution to their problem, and think the author dragged that out a bit longer than necessary. I did enjoy the ending of the story and the solution that Beau figured out. This was a sweet love story that had you rooting for Carrie and Beau the entire time.
