When Dorothy agreed to go fix up her grandmother’s family home she decided to try and solve the old family murder mystery. She is determined to discover who killed her grandmother’s twin. She just didn’t expect to fall in love with the grandson of the main suspect, or that the killer was still alive, gaining her trust little by little.

Dorothy has lost her faith, along with her job. When her beloved grandmother asks her to go to Sleepy Oaks to ready the old family home for her arrival, Dorothy finds she cannot refuse the request. She has a close relationship with her grandmother and wants to help her all she can. Add to that, it will give her an opportunity to solve the murder of her grandmother’s twin sister, and her own namesake.

Dorothy quickly falls in love with Sleepy Oaks, the small town that has been virtually untouched by time. Being that it is a small town, she quickly develops relationships with many of the citizens, including Jonah. Soon, Dorothy finds out that Jonah is the grandson of one of the main suspects in her grandaunt’s murder.

Dorothy is a likeable character with a great personality. Jonah is also a likeable character and he helps Dorothy find her faith again, but I felt that, as the “hero” in a romance, I did not get to know him as well as I would have liked. Everyone in the book was unique, including a “witch”, and I enjoyed reading about him or her.

At times, I felt that the book moved a little slow. The plot is great and very believable and held enough suspense to keep me wondering just who the murderer was and what else was not as it seemed. There were enough hints at the truth so I was not overly surprised at the end.

Overall, the book was good. The plot was believable, the romance sweet and slow. The suspense kept my attention through the slower times and kept me reading to find out the truth for myself.
