Rhianna hides her royal blood from the English Baron who holds her captive for the knowledge would spell certain danger. Then accused of being a witch, Rhianna struggles against the protective and sensual spell of her captor, desperately seeking a new life for herself.
♥ ♥ ♥ In Heartsong, thirteenth century England and Wales with all the strife inherent of that age is the time Rhianna ap Brynn Ffrydd, a Welsh princess, and Garrett de Shay, the Lord of Knockin, find themselves pitted against each other. They are from very different worlds but each is drawn to the other like a bee is drawn to nectar. Try as they may to deny it, love and the need for each other grows against tremendous odds.Allison Knight takes the reader into the intrigues and the struggles for power that thrived in that era. While King Edward of England plied his power to his knights to help him gain control of Wales, the knights vied for favor with the king to secure their positions of power and wealth. Siblings plotted against siblings seeking positions of power, while the commoners worked in servitude but often vied for positions of power among themselves. Ms. Knight does a superb job of bringing the characters to life. The reader is exposed to extreme love, hate, anger, grief, fear, and a multitude of other emotions as this wonderful love story unfolds. Heartsong is a happily-ever-after story that takes a winding, often painful and treacherous journey to arrive at the boundless joy Rhianna and Garrett come to know. I enjoyed taking the journey with them, of course, vicariously. I always appreciate the time I live in with all the security of home and its comforts after reading about the living conditions in historical times. Heartsong has the adrenaline pumping from page one. It is a smooth flowing story that kept me turning the pages. GOOD READING! |
