Mr.
Beckman's Secretary by JoAnn Carter |
|
When Harrison Beckman
meets his father’s secretary, Daniella Duncan, she’s shy and
self-conscious. Harrison, however, is determined to get to know
her better. Before he gets to do that a rival comes along to
steal Dani’s heart as quickly and thoroughly as the company’s
contracts, which have been disappearing.
As the mystery unfolds, Harrison has to fight for the woman he loves, even though this means crossing swords with his father and his determined adversary. Will Harrison be able to find the love that could await them or will it be too late? ♥ ♥ ♥ I very much enjoyed "Mr. Beckman's Secretary". Although it was short it felt fully fleshed out and the characters' motivations were so clear the suspense made perfect sense. Shy, insecure Dani is Mr. Beckman's secretary. Her job is a refuge of sorts, the place in her life that isn't messy and out of control. When she meets Harrison, her boss's son, she feels an instant attraction. The chemistry between them falls to the back burner when things turn up missing in the office, extra board meetings take place and Dani's well-ordered workplace turns upside down. While there was some stilted dialogue it didn't detract at all from my overall enjoyment of this story. Dani, with her childhood battle scars, is a character who demands compassion. She gives it to others, and she deserves as much from readers. I especially like the way she finds happiness and fulfillment when she learns to let go and put her faith in a higher power. Very inspirational, very uplifting--just an all-round satisfying read. Well done! |
